Manor Farmhouse is a two-storey traditional country house nestled within the beautiful grounds of Minterne House. A haven of quiet relaxation, it’s the ideal place to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind and immerse yourself in the peace and tranquillity of nature. Surrounded by greenery and with easy access to the iconic Himalayan gardens of Minterne House, Manor Farmhouse is a place where the whole family – including four-legged friends – can get away from it all.

More about Manor Farmhouse

This Grade II listed building is located just moments from Minterne House, home to Lord Digby, who loves guiding visitors on tours around his historic Dorset property. Originally built in the mid-seventeenth century, the farmhouse that stands on the grounds today is a more modern nineteenth-century rebuild replicating many of the classic features of the traditional 1600s design.

Stepping into Manor Farmhouse is like stepping into Dorset history. The slated, gable-ended roof is typical of the time, while the leaded windows – crafted in small, individual sections – allow natural daylight to flood into the property to create a wonderfully bright and airy environment. The period flagstone flooring, wood-burning stoves, and spacious family-style kitchen leave little doubt that you’re stepping into a truly authentic seventeenth-century farmhouse.

The rooms

Manor Farmhouse is the ideal property for family holidays in Dorset. This child-friendly, pet-friendly holiday home features 5 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 people in total. A combination of double and twin rooms provides complete flexibility in sleeping arrangements.

Each bedroom commands excellent views across the grounds of Minterne House, with the surrounding countryside scenery offering quiet and peaceful nights. There’s plenty of storage available in each room, along with comfortable bedding for a relaxed, undisturbed night’s sleep.

The master bedroom, located on the second floor of the property, features ensuite facilities. Guests sleeping in any of the property’s additional bedrooms have easy access to a second upstairs bathroom, along with a shower room conveniently situated on the home’s ground floor.

Facilities and amenities

There are two key highlights to enjoy while staying at Manor Farmhouse: the on-site library, and the traditional farmhouse-style kitchen. The library features floor-to-ceiling shelves bursting with literature, which guests are welcome to enjoy during their stay. Curl up on the sofa in front of the large windows, or snuggle up near the open fire and dive into another world under flickering light.

The timber kitchen is the heart of any good self-catering holiday at Manor Farmhouse. With an oven, hob, dishwasher, family dining table, and all the equipment and accessories you need to whip up delicious meals, staying in is just as fun – maybe more so – than going out!

After a mouthwatering dinner, comfortable sitting room in the farmhouse is the perfect place to wind down after a day exploring the local area. There’s a TV to keep little ones entertained, and free WiFi included in your stay as standard. However, there’s really nothing better than relaxing on the sofa, and gazing out through the window at the gorgeous scenery that surrounds you.

Outdoor space

Manor Farmhouse boasts its own private, enclosed garden area, making it a big hit with families with young children and friendly dogs. Wonderfully quiet, the garden is a great place for youngsters to play, or to enjoy some much-needed relaxation. There’s a BBQ, too, for alfresco summer dinners.

In addition to your own private garden, guests of Manor Farmhouse are warmly invited to enjoy the communal outdoor areas within the Minterne House estate. The exquisite Minterne gardens are open daily between 10 am and 6 pm, and guests are welcome to visit as often as they like. Whether it’s a family picnic, a meander through the serene pathways, or a quiet moment to enjoy the rhododendrons, there’s plenty to see and do here. And it’s all included in the cost of your stay.

As Lord Digby’s guests, you’ll also be welcomed to enjoy Minterne House’s outdoor heated swimming pool. Times for private swimming will be provided at the beginning of each stay.

Guests are required to bring their own towels for the swimming pool. Please kindly note, the pool is unsupervised, and children must be accompanied at all times.
