Will we have exclusive use of the venue on our chosen date?

Yes. Additionally, you will have access to the gardens as well.

 

Will we have a point of contact to be on hand during the day?

An Events Manager will be a personal point of contact throughout the day of your wedding.

 

What about cleaning of the venue, before and after our event?

Yes, all the cleaning is taken care of at no extra cost.

 

Will we have access to the greater gardens throughout their opening hours on the day of our wedding?

Yes, the gardens are an amazing feature of Minterne and you will have full access to them.

 

Will we be able to set up the venue before guests arrive?

If the venue is booked for a small intimate wedding on a Saturday it can be set up from Friday, or if it is a large wedding and marquee reception it can be set up from Thursday. Please contact us for more information about weekday and Sunday weddings.

PRICES

Do prices include VAT?

Yes, all prices are inclusive of VAT at the current rate.

 

Is there a minimum headcount or charge per person?

No, we charge a venue hire fee not per person for weddings.

ACCESS AND THE VENUE

Do you have an outdoor space that is available for hire?

The field opposite the South Front Lawn is available for marquees.

 

Can we decorate the venue?

Yes (within reason!). If you have any unique or unusual requests then please get in touch; we’d love to hear them!

 

Is there a dressing room available?

We have four en-suite rooms that are available for guests who are staying in the house. Please see our accommodation page for full details.

 

What time do we have access from?

Doors to the house are open 30 minutes before civil ceremonies.

 

FOOD AND DRINK

Do you have in house caterers?

Minterne has three excellent preferred caterers – see our suppliers page on the website or wedding brochure for more details.

 

Is there a charge for tables, crockery, glasses, linen or chairs?

There is a charge which our preferred caterers will advise.

 

Can we supply our own drinks? Corkage? Cooling/ chilling / glassware / ice-buckets included?

Yes, you can supply own drinks. The caterer can quote for and supply a chiller trailer.

 

Minterne charges £3 a bottle corkage.

If you clear empty bottles away yourselves, there is no charge.

 

Table linen?

Our preferred caterers can supply quotes for linen.

 

Do you cut our wedding cake?

The caterers will do this for you if you would like.

 

STAFF

Are there any extra staff costs and is service included?

There are no extra staff costs for Minterne House or Gardens.

 

The caterers will quote for and supply their own staff.

Can we bring our own suppliers?

 

Unfortunately not, as Minterne House is a private residence we prefer you to use one of our three preferred caterers and our marquee company.

We have no objection if you want to use your own photographer, florist etc.

 

Can we outsource our own DJ or band?

Yes, no problem.

 

MISCELLANEOUS

Is the cloakroom free?

Yes.

Are there extra costs for lighting?

Lighting will be included in your marquee costs.

Table and chairs included?

Round tables in the house are not included.

Minterne can supply mahogany dining tables to seat 80 guests in the house and there are up to 120 gilt chairs with ivory seat pads (for use in the house only).

Disabled access?

Minterne does have disabled access in the house and we can supply ramps for wheelchairs; please be aware there is no disabled toilet in the house.

PA system available for speeches?

Yes, for Marquee wedding packages

Do you have Wifi access?

Yes

What is your smoking policy?

Smoking is not allowed in the house but for marquee weddings we can supply sand buckets for cigarette ends.

Can we leave gifts in the venue overnight?

Yes, provided they are collected the next day

Contact the events manager to establish if the date is available, then come for a viewing so we can discuss your needs for the big day.


How do I book my civil ceremony?

Firstly, please book the venue either by email or telephone (01300 341370).

After this, you will need to contact Dorset registrars to establish if the date and time are available for them.


What fees are needed to secure the booking?

We normally request 50% of the venue fee to secure the booking.
