‘Full season’ photo competition

We are also launching a ‘full season’ photo competition in 2019 commencing when the garden opens for the snowdrops in February until closing in November.

The best 12 photos will go into a Minterne Calender 2020 – which will be for sale in time for 2019 Christmas Gifts.

Rules and Conditions
Photos must be taken at Minterne Gardens in the year 2019 from February 1st to November 10th, with the date clearly visible with the photo.

Entrants can submit up to three photos to our Facebook page Minterne Gardens or email as JPEGS to

Entrants under the age of 18 need the verifiable consent of a parent or guardian to enter.

All photos will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Composition
  • Originality
  • Suitability for inclusion in the Minterne Gardens calendar
  • Subject matter
  • Lighting

The photos will be judged by the Minterne photo competition team. The finalists shall appear in the Minterne Gardens Calendar 2020.

All entries must be the original work of the entrant and be the sole owner of copyright.

The entrant must also have obtained permission of any people featured in the photo or their parents/ guardians if children under 16 are featured.

The CAFÉ ON THE TERRACE opens daily from Monday 1st April to end of October (weather permitting!)

Visitors can enjoy views over the lake and the valley while taking Afternoon Tea.

Light Lunches, Cream Teas & no end of delicious delights to tempt the palate.

During JULY & AUGUST, we are offering Garden Entrance and a Light Lunch OR Cream Tea for £10.

Cream Teas, Cakes and Light Lunches are available and the Café also offers gluten & dairy free options. The Café is open daily (weather permitting) from 11am with last orders at 4.30pm. Dogs are welcome in the outside dining area (providing they are on leads).
